Suchandrika & Friends Present: Doomscrolling
Doors: 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Welcome to Suchandrika & Friends!
Watch FOUR brilliant acts, grab a drink, then settle in to enjoy Suchandrika Chakrabarti’s sell-out show, fresh from Edinburgh Fringe! Doomscrolling is her attempt to explain the speed of the news and our chronically-online lives to her niece, who’s 5 and has BIG questions.
Your four acts are:
Catie Wilkins
Formerly of the Drunk Women Solving Crime podcast, Catie is returning to stand up with a new show questioning how to avoid being bullied by your own children; how to cope with a snoring husband who insists he isn’t snoring (or even asleep); and how far into foreplay is it inappropriate to ask if the back door is locked? Credits include Jon and Lucy’s Odd Couples, Pointless Celebrities, Guilty Feminist Mash-Up and Writer’s Guild Award for sketch comedy. “Properly funny” (The Independent).
Selam
Selam is a London-based comedian, advocate for migrant issues and cultural producer. She produces the No Direction Home stand-up comedy event series for Counterpoint Arts.
Phil Green
Phil has had back-to-back sold-out Edinburgh Fringe runs in 2022 & 2023, an Amused Moose Comedy Award nomination, won a Durham Comedy Festival Award, sold out London’s Soho Theatre, achieved over 20m views on TikTok and has appeared on and written for BBC Radio 4. He’s also a co-presenter of Believe? The Conspiracy Theory Podcast which regularly features in the UK’s Top 50 comedy interview podcasts.
Steph Darcey as AMEXA
An actor, writer, singer & comedian, Steph recently performed her debut comedy show ‘Prototype’ at Camden Fringe, for which she received multiple 4.5-star and 4-star reviews, as well as a London Pub Theatre Standing Ovation Award nomination. Earlier this year Steph wrote for and performed in the world’s longest running live comedy show NEWSREVUE, (the topical sketch & musical comedy show), at the Canal Cafe Theatre. Her training includes character comedy & improvisation at The Groundlings in Los Angeles (notable alumni include Will Ferrell, Melissa McCarthy & Kristen Wiig) as well as The Actors Class, London & The National Youth Theatre.
Doors open at 7:15pm for the 7:30pm show, and there will be an interval before the solo show begins at 8:30pm.
Suchandrika Chakrabarti
Host of Aces & Eights’ monthly comedy club Mock The Month and creator of the live semi-improvised show Liz Truss’s The Traitors, Suchandrika is bringing her solo show Doomscrolling to London after a successful Edinburgh Fringe run this year. She writes for Have I Got News For You and Radio 4 comedy programmes. Suchandrika was a finalist in the BCG Pro Performance Awards 2021 and named ‘One To Watch’ by Funny Women.
Doomscrolling
In her second solo show, Suchandrika (Writer for BBC One’s Have I Got News For You and Radio 4; Funny Women ‘One To Watch’) tries to explain our chronically-online era to her niece (5), and speculates about the future (because no one can say she’s wrong). Sold out at Camden Fringe and VAULT Festival. Praise for previous work: ‘An utter joy’ (Guardian), ‘Leaves you with a smile on your face’ **** (Theatre and Other Things LDN), ‘Comes across as warm and wholesome, contrasting with some of her sneakily dark and political humour’ (BingeFringe.com). As seen on NextUp Comedy.
