Gooey and Silly Night of Romance/Comedy

Following on from the sell-out success of our spooky halloween short story night, a small group of writers and comedians (see line-up) will gather in the gorgeous red velvet basement of Aces and Eights on “the Monday of Valentines” to rapidly write (brave) and read (beautiful) some romantic and funny tales by candlelight.

For cheesy romcom scenes, surreal comedy, earnest love stories, join us for one night only. It’s a love story, baby just say yes xx

Doors 7.30pm, Show Starts 8.00pm
Finished by 10pm, with Interval
Why not grab a pizza upstairs before

100% of ticket proceeds go to the artists.

Lineup:

Angela Channell is just a girl… standing in front of a bio… asking it to say that she’s a Mancunian comedy writer, performer and producer. Also she looks exactly like Julia Roberts except hotter and more charismatic.

Imogen Trusselle is a comedian, writer, and romantic. FA Improv Cage Match Winner 2025 @imogentr

AJ Stubberfield is a queer (he/they) comic, writer and actor. Comedy credits include a sold out solo show at Soho Theatre and writing credits include their short play debut at Royal Court, audio drama beneath our feet and new queer musical Fandom @Brumble_hag

Abbie Edwards  is a Leicester Square New Comedian of the Year 2024 Runner Up and BBC New Comedy Award nominee who overshares about everything from losing her virginity in her mid-20s to accidentally raising herself religious. She has been nominated for the BBC Introducing Radio 4 Comedy Award 2019 and Birmingham Comedy Festival Breaking Talent Awards 2025 @abbieedwards98

Charlie Lat is a writer, teacher and comedian and has been obsessed with romantic comedies since her mum first snuck her into the cinema to watch My Best Friend’s Wedding. Last year, she was a Semi-finalist in the West End New Act of the Year Woman Comedian competition and she has previously won the Rising Stars Trophy and was a runner up in the Victoria Comedy Cup.

Aisling O’Leary is a writer and journalist from Ireland. In lieu of finding any real romance in the city, she writes about it in her spare time.
