Folk On Monday Present
Anna MacDonald is a multi-instrumentalist singer and songwriter whose celtic roots shine through her songs whether sung in Scots, English or Gaelic. She naturally understands her musical heritage and this is beautifully reflected in her voice and music. Anna plays a set with original music complimented with Gaelic songs, traditional and not so traditional folk songs played on either guitar or Clarsach.
Ainsley Hamill is an experienced Scottish songwriter and singer and is quickly becoming one of the UK’s leading and most diverse folk singers, after various nominations at the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards. Much of her own material is performed with touring band ‘Barluath’ and solo.

Hauntingly beautiful, traditionally inspired folk music and beyond...
Anna MacDonald is a singer and songwriter of folk songs and more - Yes there are real celtic roots but Anna takes this to create something more... A multi-instrumentalist she is able to play the piano, guitar and clarsach which she beautifully intertwines with both English and Gaelic songs.
Anna was raised in Glasgow but spent every summer on the Isle of Skye where her family’s roots run deep. Her Highland connections have a strong influence on her from an early age... Anna learned more from the family ceildihs she attended than she ever did in school. In 2003 Anna spent a year studying at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, Scotland’s Gaelic College, which cemented her love for the language.

Independent Venue Week 2019 »
CELEBRATING THE SPIRIT OF INDEPENDENCE & CULTURE OF LIVE MUSIC
Independent Venue Week is a 7 day celebration of small music venues around the UK and a nod to the people that own, run and work in them, week in, week out.
These venues give artists their first experience of playing live in front of an audience and for fans, somewhere to get up close to artists that one day, may well be playing stadiums and festival main stages.
Supported using public funding by Arts Council England, Independent Venue Week brings together these venues along with breaking and established artists, promoters, labels, media, bloggers and tastemakers to create a nationwide series of gigs at the end of January.
These venues are the backbone of the live music scene in this country and Independent Venue Week wants to recognise all that they have done to create some of the most memorable nights of the past so they can continue to do the same in the future.
