Thursday 3rd February 2022
@ Aces And Eights Bar
The Local is coming back in 2022!
You are most welcome to take part in the relaunch of The Local in London. After these trying couple of years, we are so looking forward to some top quality music by some of our favourite artists.
We will be celebrating the launch with the lovely and talented artists Luke James Williams & Annie Dressner.
LUKE JAMES WILLIAMS:
Releasing his debut EP ‘Drove’ in November 2018, Luke gained huge support from BBC6 Music DJ Tom Robinson who made ‘Still In Bed’ his 6 Music Recommends Track Of The Week in April 2019, later naming it his Track Of The Year So Far in July. The song was also played across the station by Lauren Laverne, Steve Lamacq and Tom Ravenscroft. Elsewhere, Luke has received airplay from Amazing Radio and BBC Introducing and has been playlisted by Folk Radio UK. Luke has received glowing reviews for his engaging and emotive live performances and has supported artists such as Megson, Mark Chadwick (Levellers) and The Little Unsaid. Drawing on a wide range of musical influences Luke has crafted a unique sound, painting pictures with words and singing them in his own distinctly English voice.
Since moving from her hometown of NYC to the UK ten years ago, singer-songwriter Annie Dressner has garnered rave reviews for her recordings and live performances. From her debut 'Strangers...', her EP 'East Twenties' and her second full-length 'Broken...' produced by Nigel Stonier (Thea Gilmore), Dressner has gone from strength to strength. Her straightforward lyrical style, sharp ear for wordplay and crisp, lilting vocals offer listeners a front row seat to her stories. Her music has drawn comparisons to an up-tempo Mazzy Star, an understated Jenny Lewis, Soccer Mommy & Phoebe Bridgers.
For nigh-on two decades, The Local London has been an ebb and flow affair. A labour of love (and ALL the other emotions) for founder Howard Monk and many (any) of the brilliant folks who have worked at and with The Local, to bring shows and tours together by some of the finest waifs and strays making music at this, that or at any other of those times. Before The Local there was Knom Music. There was nothing at all for a time (which neatly coincided with a global pandemic). Some acts who have passed through the revolving door that we are, you may have subsequently seen headlining festivals or arenas. Stadiums even. Most of the folks who have worked with us have similarly gone on to great things.
The Local is back for 2022, dipping some toes back into the water. Because the water is just lovely. And we can’t wait to get our heads wet, all over again.
Rooted in Live Music, THE LOCAL has been an independent promoter of exciting new music and events for approaching 20 years. Always working with the finest artists and venues to ensure amazing and compelling events happen.
The Local have promoted their own festival events Europe-wide as well as working closely with other festivals helping to curate including CAMP BESTIVAL, WILDERNESS, SECRET GARDEN PARTY, END OF THE ROAD etc as well as curating a number of sold out events at Aces & Eights and across London as part of their End Festival.
